G’day and welcome back to The Melbourne Snap. It was a bit of a quiet one overnight so the newsletter is a little shorter than usual. Do let me know if I’ve missed anything. Now on to Thursday’s edition.

4️⃣ Let’s start with some positive news. Melbourne has been recognised as the fourth best city to live in the world in Time Out magazine’s annual ‘best cities’ list. 18,500 city-dwellers shared views of everything from food, nightlife and culture to affordability, happiness and the overall city vibe. - Time Out

☀️Australia has long had one of the highest skin cancer rates in the world. Now using analysis of a decade-worth of medical data, Melbourne’s melanoma hotspots have been identified. - Hannah Hammoud and Broede Carmody, The Age
➡️ Across the whole of city, the highest rates of melanoma can be found in Beaumaris, in the Bayside district.

👮A man has been arrested following a siege in the north-east of the city overnight. Police responded to reports of a man making threats towards another man on Napolean Street, Eltham around 9pm. He would not leave the property. After three hours of negotiation, the police finally got the offender out and arrested him. - Victoria Police
🧨There’s been another firebombing attack on Chapel Street. Emergency services were called after three males set a Prahran dessert shop alight around 4:15am on Wednesday. One was critically injured in the resulting explosion - Victoria Police
➡️It was first believed to be another targeted attack in Melbourne’s ongoing ‘tobacco war.’ However, the incident involved The Golden Lounge shop, located next door to a tobacco store. - Molly Magennis, Seven News

🚧A pedestrian died and two others were sent to hospital after two out-of-control cars crashed in Narre Warren North in Melbourne's south-east yesterday. - Victoria Police
🏛️A young man accused of killing a model and injuring others while trying to leave a Melbourne rave has requested a bail change to allow him to continue to work at a fish and chips shop. - Liam Beatty, news.com.au
🧪Four men have been charged in relation to trafficking 1,4 Butanediol via postal mail. On Tuesday, the men were arrested at a domestic mail delivery centre in St Kilda. The industrial chemical is sometimes used illegally as a substitute to gamma-hydroxybutyric acid (GHB). - Victoria Police

🚢Australia’s first five-star river cruise is one step closer to welcoming passengers on board thanks to a refurbished 1907 wood-fired steam engine that has been installed.
